Alex started playing guitar and writing music when he was eight years of age. Camino Palmero was the street where Alex grew up. His first band was called Maybe Solitude (a band with Jethro).
His first band with Aaron Kamin was called Generation Gap and then named Next Door. Alex and Aaron formed the band, The Calling. Alex was signed to RCA when he was 15.
Alex has two cats - Parige and Six.
Alex had a number one hit with Santana when he re-recorded the song "Why Don't You and I" written by Chad Kroeger.
